Please see the attached document for more information on what conditions she can treat.
Physiotherapy Assessment Service
You may notice that it takes slightly longer for the receptionists to book your appointment. This is because she will be looking at your computer screen to check if there are other things overdue for your care that she can arrange for you. This will also happen when you arrive to collect prescriptions, or any other contact you may have with the receptionists.
In addition to this, the receptionists may offer to undertake your blood pressure reading, or measure your height and weight, or ask whether you smoke.
She has instructions from the doctors to do so, although you are free to decline.
A great deal of this is because the government wants GP practices to do more and more recording and there is a definite limit on how much the doctors and nurses can squeeze into normal consultation times. We ask for your cooperation when the receptionist asks these questions.
Medicine Management Pharmacist
You may from time to time get a phone call from our practice pharmacist to do a review of your medication. Please be patient with him, especially if he is going through things that you may have already discussed with the doctor. This is to ensure that you continue to take your medications safely. He is doing this on the instruction of the doctors. You can use this opportunity to tell him about any problems you may be having with your medication.
Elisa works with the doctors to ensure patients comply with ordering and taking their medicines to try and cut down on medicine wastage. She can advise patients who have any questions on any medicine they are currently prescribed.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
The Health Visitors are based at the UCAN Centre (tel 01204-337890). Please do not hesitate to contact them for timings of clinics at other Health Centres, and any other advice.
